Travis Pastrana keeps the Gymkhana franchise as absurd as ever.
- Gymkhana 12 stars Travis Pastrana in his second mainline Gymkhana video.
- The 12th official installment in the Gymkhana franchise takes the crew to Florida and shows off some of the state’s best features.
- The real star of the show is a Subaru GL wagon with 862 hp, active aero, and a ton of attitude.
On the heels of Ken Block’s battery-electric romp through Las Vegas, Nevada, the Hoonigan team brought a hilariously over-built Subaru wagon and extreme sports legend Travis Pastrana to Florida for another feather in the Gymkhana cap. Pastrana puts this Subaru through a myriad of stunts that highlight Florida, the car, and Pastrana’s skills behind the wheel.
Dubbed the Family Huckster, Pastrana’s Subaru Wagon started life as a simple Subaru GL wagon. This wild wagon was inspired by the 1983 Subaru US Ski Team GL Wagon, but it’s been slightly enhanced. Under this GL’s hood is a 2.3-liter flat-four (based on Subaru’s EJ engine architecture) that sends an outlandish 862 hp through a sequential transmission to all four wheels. While this rallycross-powered Subaru Wagon would be interesting enough on its own, this special Subaru is also modified with active aero.
In line with the Gymkhana series, this clip includes some rigorous exercises—donuts, jumps, and elegant drifts—as well as a monster truck, a drag race against an El Camino, and Pastrana’s fictional Subaru dealership. These additions to the Gymkhana formula help this 12-minute video feel as fresh as ever.
