Boutique British carmaker Gordon Murray Automotive has just peeled back the covers off its newest creation, the T.33 Spider. It’s the fourth car in the company’s model lineup, and the first with a removable roof. The convertible design allows occupants unfiltered access to the sonorous notes from the naturally aspirated 4.0-litre V12 mounted just behind the cabin.
Professor Gordon Murray is perhaps best known as the brains behind the design of the ’90s McLaren F1, a car still regarded as one of the best-engineered performance cars today. In recent times, Gordon Murray put his name back on the map with the radical central-seat T.50; and then followed that up with the toned-down but still impressive T.33 supercar coupe.
The new T.33 Spider is an evolution of the coupe body style. As the name implies, the roof disassembles into two panels which can then be stowed in the 115-litre front luggage space. Twin side lockers provide an additional 180 litres of storage space, hinting at the usability of this supercar.

As with other Gordon Murray creations, elevated driving engagement remains at the core of the T.33 Spider experience. The feeling is enhanced by the Cosworth-designed free-breathing 607-hp V12 engine that revs to an ear-splitting 11,100 rpm. The T.33 Spider, with a dry weight of 2,443 lbs (1,108 kg), is only 44 lbs (18 kg) heavier than the coupe, so you can expect similar levels of on-road performance. Purists will also be delighted to know that the T.33 Spider is offered exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission.
The carmaker has described the interior as “simple, elegant, and analogue,” aimed at delivering a driver-focused environment. Highlights include a centrally-mounted rev counter and a carbon-fibre steering wheel trimmed with leather. The T.33 Spider also features a body-coloured rear bulkhead trim that flows between the race-inspired seats. Remove the roof panels and lower the rear glass, and you will notice how that styling element enhances the feeling of openness, creating an impression of the exterior flowing into the cabin.
Like all Gordon Murray Automotive road cars, production will be capped at 100 units. Each T.33 Spider will carry a price tag of about US$2.35 million, with the first customer deliveries expected in the middle of 2025.
