At the fifth International Sustainable Energy Summit 2022, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) – in collaboration with Mysuri Biz Technologies – will provide 1,000 units of Electric Vehicle (EV) taxis to support the country’s decarbonisation efforts, reports The Edge Markets.

“The involvement of GLCs (government-linked companies) such as TNB needs to be intensified to support the development of the country's EV industry,” he added.
The Prime Minister also said that the EV Infrastructure Development Guidelines will be enforced in the fourth quarter of this year. A regulatory framework will be made to ensure the safety of users and public.
The International Sustainable Energy Summit is organised by Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) to discuss the future of electricity and sustainability.
Meanwhile in Korea, 36.4 percent of taxis are now EVs with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 being the most popular there. Motivating factors for the uptake of EV taxis are reduced maintenance cost and zero fuel cost.
