GMC has unveiled the 2023 Sierra 1500 AT4X AEV edition, which it said is the “most off-road-capable factory Sierra ever.” The new truck will be available in Canada later in its model year.
Building on the AT4X, “AEV” stands for American Expedition Vehicles, which supplies aftermarket parts and accessories for off-road vehicles.
The new trim will include AEV stamped front and rear bumpers with heavy-duty recovery points and winch capability; five hot-stamped boron steel skid plates; 18-inch AEV wheels with 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory M/T tires; unique grille and fascia; AEV branding; and available rocker panel protectors and bolt-on step assist.
Compared to the 2022 Sierra AT4X, the AEV edition improves on the front approach angle by more than 27 per cent, to 32.5 degrees. The departure and breakover angles are also improved, and ground clearance is slightly higher.
Like the truck it’s based upon, the AEV edition will use a 6.2L V8 engine, Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear e-locking differentials, and selectable off-road modes including one-pedal driving. It will also include leather-clad massaging from seats, premium audio system, and digital displays. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
