American stalwart GMC has teased its upcoming all-electric Sierra Denali pickup truck, or “ute” as we would call it in Australia, previewing the truck’s lighting sequence and giving a hint of the vehicle’s exterior design.
GMC, the truck and utility brand of American automotive giant GM, on Wednesday published a short video previewing the new all-electric Sierra in the popular Denali trim.
The third all-electric vehicle from GMC, following the GMC Hummer EV Pickup and the GMC Hummer EV SUV, the GMC Sierra Denali is designed on the company’s Ultium Platform and will be revealed at some point during 2022.
“We now have an opportunity to evolve Sierra’s capabilities and technologies, as afforded by transitioning to an all-electric propulsion while also elevating the luxurious design and comfort associated with Denali,” said Duncan Aldred, GMC vice president.
In a world where electric vehicles are pushing the boundaries of innovation in the face of continued scepticism, GMC are pushing things even further by releasing big, utility-style trucks that should put to rest all qualms over the viability of all types of electric vehicles.
GMC unveiled the Hummer EV Pickup in October 2020 to much acclaim and almost instantaneous demand. This was followed by the Hummer EV SUV unveiled in April 2021, both of which will be built at Factory Zero.
First edition deliveries of the Hummer EV pickup are expected to be taking place this month, with new owners able to take advantage of nearly 200 optional accessories that will bury any ignorant claims of electric vehicles ruining the weekend.
