Genesis is expanding slowly but surely.

Genesis has announced that it's expanding sales of its electric vehicles to six more states immediately.

Now you can get the Genesis GV60 SUV, the Electrified GV70 SUV, and the Electrified G80 sedan in Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin, as well as Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Utah, and Washington.

This announcement brings Genesis another small step closer to an all-electric lineup that will be available in all states by 2030.

“We are pleased to now be offering our award-winning lineup of electric vehicles to a much broader audience of American customers,” said Claudia Marquez, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America.

The slow rollout of Genesis EVs is the result of the South Korean manufacturer wanting to build dedicated dealerships separate from Hyundai showrooms. Those dealerships then need training on EVs for both sales staff and technicians.

Genesis' halo dealership is located in the New York Meatpacking District, and it's more of a destination than a showroom. For a more precise depiction of what its dealerships will look like, we suggest ogling the retail facility in South Carolina.

Genesis is selling its EVs with three years of 30-minute complimentary charging sessions via Electrify America from the date of purchase. That's good because Electrify America recently raised its prices, but it could be better because it's one of the less agreeable charging networks, according to a JD Power survey. It recently got a lot of negative publicity after one of its chargers left a Rivian truck stuck and attached to a charging point for almost two full days.

However, most Genesis owners will charge from home, and we've been mostly impressed by the South Korean premium brand's electric vehicles. Genesis has also been clever in using ground-up designed EVs and electric versions of existing models that don't shout about being electric-powered.
