Hyundai’s luxury brand, Genesis, has detailed the second-generation G90 upper-large sedan, which is its new technology-packed flagship model.
As reported, the G90’s exterior was revealed late last month, but now we’ve got our first look at its interior, which is suitably luxurious. Engine and other mechanical details have also been released.
Inside, the G90’s second row is highlighted by up to three touchscreens, with two 10.2-inch units able to fitted to the back of the front seats, as part of the rear entertainment system. Then there’s the 8.0-inch item in the dividing centre console. It controls everything.

In the long-wheelbase variant, there’s enough room for second-row passengers to use power adjustment to stretch out, with a calf rest included. And yes, the rear seats are heated and cooled, and have massaging functionality (four modes).
Quilted leather upholstery is used extensively alongside real wood trim and genuine metal accents, while ambient lighting is used throughout to further elevate the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8, BMW 7 Series and Lexus LS rival.
Moving to the first row, where Genesis’ approach to central touchscreens and digital instrument clusters has been overhauled, with 12.3-inch displays now positioned side-by-side, as pioneered by Mercedes-Benz. There’s also a head-up display above.
More importantly, though, the set-up is powered by a new multimedia system for the brand, which is expected to filter down to the rest of its model line-up.
Other features include rear-wheel steering, a digital key, dual panoramic sunroofs, fingerprint authentication, a 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and built-in fragrance, with scents including curiously named The Driver’s Awakening, The Great Outdoors and My Favourite Place.
Ride quality should also be high thanks to the G90’s predictive multi-chamber air suspension, which can lift the front wheels by 10mm and make other tweaks 100m before driving over an uneven surface, for improved comfort. Both axles are automatically lifted by 25mm on rough roads.
Engine-wise, the G90 is motivated by Genesis’ familiar 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6, which is mated to an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. In the rear- or all-wheel-drive standard-wheelbase variant (5275mm long with a 3180mm wheelbase), it produces 280kW/530Nm.
Opt for the AWD-only long-wheelbase variant (5465mm long with a 3370mm wheelbase) instead and power and torque rise to yet-to-be-confirmed figures thanks to the addition of an electric supercharger that improves acceleration off the line and at mid-speed.
As reported, Genesis has “no current plans” to sell the new G90 in Australia. For reference, the previous-generation model also wasn’t sold locally.
