Geely Design Global, the design arm for Geely Auto Group, has moved into a brand new address in Gothenburg. The massive black building will be home to hundreds of international designers who will contribute their art to define the next-generation cars by Geely.
Located within the Lindhomen Science Park, the minimalistic yet sci-fi-inspired building is part of Geely’s Uni3 campus.
Some of the businesses that are already operating on the campus include the CEVT (China-Euro Vehicle Technology), Lynk & Co, Ecarx, and Geely Group Motorsports.
Aptly named the Geely Design Centre, the complex will be home to designers who will serve multiple brands. However, for now, the designers in the centre will focus on Lynk & Co brand as well as Geely’s luxury all-electric brand, Zeekr.
The design complex, which spans five floors, boasts an open concept design to encourage the different design teams from both brands to work together as a single, unified unit.
Currently, the design centre is already home to 550 staff working in multiple disciplines. The areas that the designers are focussed on include exterior to interior design, physical to digital modelling, colour, material, finish (CMF), and newer functions like human-machine interaction.
There is also a large virtual and augmented reality section space to allow designers in exploring new possibilities.
Geely hopes that more designers from all over the world will be attracted to join the design team to help further refine the brand’s design language.
