The Ferrari 812’s great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather is up for grabs…
Ferraris have always been relatively expensive and they’ve also been among some of the most desirable collector’s items regardless of their age or mileage.
Certain models are obviously more abundantly available than others and often command lower prices as a result, but this 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC manual is the only one of its kind listed on carsales… at a cool $1,199,500.
The 330 GTC was Ferrari’s flagship Berlinetta of the time – making it an ancestor of the 812 – and is powered by a 4.0-litre V12 good in its day for 221kW/326Nm.
A five-speed manual transmission sent power to the rear wheels which, from the factory at least, were wrapped in high-performance Michelin rubber.
This particular vehicle was originally delivered in Belgium – and was blue – before it went back to Italy and eventually made its way to Australia after being purchased in Rome in 2002.
Once here, the two-door beauty was completely restored from the ground up and even converted from left- to right-hand drive in the process, which was drawn out over nearly a decade and involved two consecutive owners.
The bulk of the work was carried out by highly regarded Ferrari and Lamborghini specialist Carle Rheinberger and included a complete rebuild of the engine and transmission, before the car was sold again and shipped to Melbourne in 2012 with just 22,766 miles showing on the clock.
The current owner has had it since 2016 and only used it “sparingly”, hence the 25,991 miles (41,828km) under its belt.
Save for a stone chip there’s barely a mark on the exterior, says the seller, and this near-concours condition continues within the cabin.
“One could spend a very long time just admiring this Ferrari 330 GTC,” the seller says.
“The proportions on the car are ‘just right’ and the thin A and B pillars give the cabin an open feel and provide exceptional visibility.
“It is regarded as one of the very best driving Ferraris and as a result they are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts the world over.
“There are only a handful of Ferrari 330 GTC’s in Australia and as a result the opportunity to acquire one in this condition presents a very unique opportunity.”
Included in the price is a complete history file, all the restoration receipts and photos, original owner’s and parts manuals, and an OEM jack and tool kit.
