Fisker said on Thursday that partner Foxconn would manufacture the electric vehicle startup’s second model PEAR at the Taiwanese firm’s newly acquired facility in Ohio.
Foxconn closed a deal with Lordstown Motors to buy its Ohio factory on Wednesday, excluding certain assets, for US$230 million.
Fisker’s PEAR compact car will start production in 2024 at a base price of under US$30,000, and Foxconn will make at least 250,000 PEAR vehicles a year at the facility when production ramps up. [Fisker coincidentally released a new teaser rendering of the PEAR just yesterday, shown above, revealing it to be not a crossover but a hatchback of sorts. —Ed.]
The PEAR vehicle is intended to be launched in North America, China, Europe and India, and the platform will underpin two more models the company will introduce at a later date, Fisker had said earlier.
Foxconn will also manufacture Lordstown Motors’ Endurance electric pickup truck at the Ohio facility.
