The Miami International Autodrome marks the first race to take place in the city which bears its name, one that boasts the sports first 10-year deal which will see racing take place until 2032. The purpose built street circuit is based around the Hard Rock Stadium which is home to the Miami Dolphins, an American NFL team.
Football won’t be the main attraction this weekend however as a hotting up title battle is ensuing with Charles Leclerc and reigning World Champion Max Verstappen. After a dreadful weekend at home in Imola, Ferrari will look to regain the upper hand and grow their buffer for title contender Charles Leclerc against Max Verstappen who has closed the gap into second.
The drivers and teams will be battling it out for 57 laps of the 19-turn, 5,4 km circuit of a weekend of moderate temperatures expected to be lingering around 30°C with a small chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday.
Several drivers have sampled the new circuit on simulation runs they have completed in preparation for the weekend and there seems to be positive consensus on the layout. Watch Sergio Pérez take to the unfinished circuit here.
The circuit will also feature events such as the W Series’ season opener and Porsche Sprint Challenge North America so spectators will have plenty of action to enjoy throughout the 2022 Miami Grand Prix race weekend.
