Ford has issued its third major recall of the month, the latest affecting more than 277,000 of its Super Duty line of heavy-duty pickup trucks and Continental sedans from luxury arm Lincoln. The issue stems from the vehicles’ 360-degree camera system.
Affected vehicles include more than 277,000 model-year 2017-20 F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty pickups equipped with the Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System, plus model-year 2017-20 Continentals equipped with the 360-degree camera system. Degradation of the camera’s antireflective lens coating can lead to a foggy or cloudy rearview camera image, which can reduce the driver’s visibility behind the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the rearview camera for free to resolve the issue. Ford will begin notifying owners Sept. 12, but those with questions can call the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 22S51), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
