The base models are on hold for now.
As reported by Jalopnik, Ford has halted production of manual-equipped Bronco off-roaders because building cars is a tough game to play. However, it's not the Bronco causing the problem; it's the Ford Ranger. Ford needs to renew its Michigan Assembly Plant to accommodate the next-generation Ranger, and in Ford's words from the report, the revamp will “maximize commonality on the assembly line to ensure a quality launch for the new Ranger” and affects the Base and Everglades model as well as options for the manual transmission.
So, if you're after a manual transmission Bronco or the Base and Everglades trim specifically, it's time to either hit the dealers and see if there are any on the forecourts or prepare for a long wait. The options should return for the 2024 model year.
At the time of writing, all options are still available on Ford's configurator, but Ford already has caveats about parts availability. The Everglades trim model comes with a factory-fitted winch and snorkel, 35-inch mud terrain tires, and easy-to-clean vinyl seats, which is good news for aftermarket companies.
The rebirth of the Ford Bronco has been a tough one. It was launched during the Pandemic in 2021 and immediately suffered from supply chain issues, which are still ongoing. Ford recently offered customers a $2,500 discount to change options or cancel theirorders and switch to an in-stock Ford vehicle.
On top of the issues, demand for the Bronco has been high, particularly amongst off-road enthusiasts. It's an incredibly capable vehicle that takes a lot of cues in design and utility from the original Bronco. Ford only just reopened its order bank for 24 hours after being forced to close it. Demand for the vehicle is that high, and production is that limited.
Hopefully, this issue will be resolved properly for the 2024 model year. The Everglades model can be effectively recreated using the aftermarket, but the Base model with a manual is an excellent entry point for under $35,000.
