Our long-term Ford Ranger has been doing service with our team for a few months now and it's time for a small update on how things are going.
Team duty
South Africans love bakkies and for good reason. As our team has had the pleasure of running around with the Ranger crew cab for some time now it was about time to get some feedback from various team members that made use of the machine.

I’ve covered a few thousand kilometres in our long-term Ranger now and have come to the conclusion that this XL-spec car has just about every feature a bakkie owner needs; however, I am also certain that there are features that many of us would want, and that’s where the XLT and Wildtrak come in! The powertrain suits this package beautifully, and despite this model’s workhorse roots, those coming from older extended cab bakkies will laud the creature comforts and added comfort present in the new Ranger.

I spent my time with the Supercab making full use of its carrying capabilities, carting around garden refuse to the dump, cleaning out the garage and carrying gear to the racetrack. The longer bed area makes loading extra stuff a breeze and the larger cab with extra storage for race gear and helmets was a pleasure to have especially when you can just swing the rear doors open to access the space.
Verdict
Although it’s not quite a double-cab and can’t really transport four people, the Supercab does everything you need from a utility vehicle and more. Having the Supercab around is super handy for those everyday tasks that require a load bed and some that you wouldn’t even think of. The Supercab is going to be with us a while longer and will be putting in some very interesting work in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned to our social pages and follow the series to see just what else we will get up to with the Ford.
