- These are the 10 least reliable cars on the market right now
- The 2022 Ford Mustang continues to have a poor reliability rating
- The 2022 Ford Explorer is infamous for its reliability issues
Ford is one of the last all-American automakers in the country, and while many folks love Ford vehicles, those vehicles have a few significant issues. One of the main issues that Ford has is the fact that Ford makes two of the least reliable vehicles on the market. Here’s a look at the two unreliable Ford cars and what makes them so unreliable for drivers.
These are the 10 least reliable cars on the market right now
According to Consumer Reports, the least reliable cars on the market right now have a few surprises and many familiar vehicles. All of the cars on this list have a variety of issues, and on top of that, the vehicles have had those issues for at least two model years. There were a couple of ties, however. The Tesla Model Y was tied with the Subaru Ascent and the Chrysler Pacifica, and all three had terrible reliability scores.
The Volkswagen Tiguan and the Volvo XC90 were also tied and were even less reliable than the Model Y, the Ascent, and the Pacifica. Then there were the two Chevy models that made the list. The Corvette may be fun to drive, but it’s very unreliable. Meanwhile, the Silverado 1500 is the only truck on Consumer Reports’ list and was even more unreliable than the Corvette.
The least reliable car on the market right now is the Mercedes-Benz GLE. Unfortunately, the second and third least reliable cars both belonged to Ford.
The 2022 Ford Mustang continues to have a poor reliability rating
2022 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Fastback | The Ford Motor Company
Overall, the Ford Mustang came in third place and had a lower reliability score than the Chevy Corvette. The Mustang’s reliability issues shouldn’t be surprising to Mustang owners, as the car has been suffering from reliability problems since the 2016 model year. The good news is that Ford is aware of these issues, and the automaker has fixed some of them over the years. However, that hasn’t stopped new ones from appearing.
For example, for the 2022 model year, Ford seems to have fixed the engine reliability issues that the 2018 Mustang suffered from. However, the 2022 Mustang now has reliability problems relating to its suspension, brakes, and in-car electronics. The 2018 Mustang did not have issues in those areas at the time.
Still, Mustang shoppers don’t buy the model for its reliability. The Mustang continues to be a powerful muscle car, and that’s why it still has a great owner satisfaction score.
The 2022 Ford Explorer is infamous for its reliability issues
It’s a different story for the Ford Explorer, which is simply infamous for its lack of reliability. Consumer Reports has reliability data for the Explorer dating back to the 2000 model year. While the Explorer was able to score decently on some model years, it has never had a year where its reliability was above average. In most model years, the Explorer was simply plagued by reliability problems.
Once again, Ford is well-aware of these problems, and the automaker has been fixing them as they come to light. In fact, the last model year that Consumer Reports has full data on is the 2021 model year, and it only had a few reliability issues. The car’s body integrity and power equipment didn’t score well, but everything else did.
Still, that doesn’t stop the 2022 Explorer from getting a poor predicted reliability score. This mostly has to do with the fact that,t even in the 2020 model year, the Explorer had significant reliability issues, especially relating to its transmission. As such, owners aren’t that satisfied with this Ford SUV, aren’t expecting much positive change, and its owner satisfaction score is mediocre.
