If you’re wishing you could go back to the week before Christmas and un-eat all those mince pies and second helpings of pud, this latest book from Haynes could be just the job.
Looking from the hardcover exterior just like a classic Haynes workshop manual, this Back to the Future-themed book features tonnes of cutaway drawings and technical details of Doc Brown’s famous time-travelling DeLorean DMC-12.
First seen in the original 1985 Back to the Future film, Doc Brown’s plutonium-powered DeLorean is capable of time-travel when it reaches 88mph, and over the course of three films takes Marty on a ping-pong journey through time that has him taking part in a wild west duel, fending off the amorous advances of his own mother in the 1950s, saving his future son from prison and generally coming close to destroying the fabric of the space-time continuum at every turn.
The manual covers both the original car from the first film, plus the updated flying version first seen in BTTF 2, and reveals secrets about the Flux Capacitor and Mr Fusion components.
And there’s also room given to Marty’s Hoverboard and the Time Train. All nonsense, obviously, but great fun with it, just like the film.
The book costs £25 and available to pre-order now for delivery in spring 2021 from sites like Waterstones.
The Doc Brown DeLorean book is the latest in a series of spoof Haynes manuals. Other, similar books covering movie vehicles include guides to the Millennium Falcon and Tie Fighter from Star Wars, and the Ectomobile Cadillacs from the Ghostbusters films.
