US car-maker provides fresh glimpse of its affordable battery-electric SUV ahead of sales in 2024
Californian-based car-maker Fisker has released its second teaser of the all-new five-seat all-electric small SUV that’s called the Fisker PEAR and will go on sale in 2024 priced from $US29,900 ($A43,500). An acronym for Personal Electric Automotive Revolution, the PEAR has been designed to sit below the much larger Fisker Ocean and is claimed to have been created to combine “sustainability, technology and design into a digitally connected” package.
The latest image suggests that the 2024 Fisker PEAR will feature ultra-short front and rear overhangs, pronounced wheel-arches and a wrap-around front light bar.
Set to be positioned as a rival for both the Renault ZOE and the MINI Electric, the Fisker PEAR will be built by Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn at a factory in Ohio in the US.
It’s thought that the PEAR will be built on the recently-revealed Hon Hai EV Architecture that Foxconn has specifically developed for electric cars.
Once up to speed, the Foxconn factory will be capable of building up to 250,000 cars annually.
It’s not yet known if right-hand drive is part of Fisker’s plans, but owners in the US have already been invited to place a $US250 ($A360) to reserve a PEAR ahead of its launch.
