Fisker has unveiled further information and visuals concerning the Alaska electric pickup truck. The company asserts that this electric truck is set to achieve the distinction of being the most lightweight and environmentally sustainable truck globally.
Derived from the adapted Ocean platform known as FM31, the Alaska electric truck is anticipated to commence production in the United States during the initial quarter of 2025. It is projected to offer a maximum range of 574km.
One of the notable highlights of the Alaska is its unique feature known as the Houdini trunk. In the context of this electric truck, the Houdini refers to a mid-gate that can be electronically lowered and concealed beneath the floor. By utilising this rolled-down mid-gate in conjunction with the rear seats that fold down flat, Fisker says that the length of the bed can be expanded from 1371.6mm to an impressive 2804.16mm.
When the mid-gate is lowered, the fold-up panels are designed to safeguard the rear seats, according to Fisker. Additionally, the Alaska boasts some distinct and playful attributes, such as the “big gulp cupholder” showcased in the recently unveiled images, along with a practical cowboy hat holder—a roof-mounted strap intended for securing hats. Furthermore, a retractable tablet holder for the co-driver is also part of the unique features of the truck.
Fisker has outlined plans to provide the Alaska model with a choice of two battery capacities: 75 and 113 kilowatt hours. The smaller capacity is projected to yield an approximate range of 370km, whereas the larger capacity is expected to offer a more extensive range of up to 574km—though these preliminary company estimates are subject to potential revisions. The exact details of the powertrain specifications have not yet been finalised or confirmed.
The top-tier Ocean Extreme has a dual-motor AWD system producing 550hp, while the base model offers 275hp. The Alaska’s performance should be in a similar range. Fisker mentioned the truck’s 0-100km/h acceleration as 3.9 to 7.2 seconds, varying by version and setup.
While Fisker has confirmed the Alaska’s domestic manufacturing, it has refrained from disclosing the specific location and potential partners, as these details are still being finalised.
Positioned between the compact and mid-size truck categories, the Alaska is expected to carry an initial price tag of $45,400 (RM210,837) before incentives, according to Fisker’s estimates. Presently, reservations are being accepted at a cost of $250 (RM1,161).
