The biggest updates are mainly focused on one place.
The third-generation Porsche Cayenne launched for the 2019 model year and time sure does fly by. Its midlife facelift is just around the corner for both the standard and coupe body styles. Today, our spy photographers have caught the updated Coupe out doing some road testing, showing off its slick new taillight design. Actually, two different trims of the 2023 Cayenne Coupe were spotted, the standard version and the Turbo GT that was wearing the current taillights.
We know for sure it's a Turbo GT due to the center-mounted dual exhaust tips. But our attention right now should be on the base model because of those new taillights with a pixelated look. Beneath them is also something interesting: black and red tape are covering a new horizontal strip that wraps around towards the sides.
We predict that strip is going to be thicker than what's found on the current model. The refresh will further include updates to the headlights. Look again at the Turbo GT and notice the black tape covering the grille section, vents, and fascia. If you can imagine the tape gone then you might be able to make out the shape of the new vents. It's possible the Turbo GT's taillights will remain mostly the same as they are now in order to further differentiate it from lower trims.
As we previously reported, the most significant Cayenne refresh improvements will be found inside. The redesigned cabin will feature a fully digital instrument cluster and a bigger infotainment screen.
A new gear shifter – straight from the latest 911 – will be positioned again on the center console along with redesigned climate controls. The Cayenne Coupe is still a fairly new model and the Turbo GT only arrived on the scene last summer, so don’t expect significant changes under the hood for either trim. Porsche hasn’t announced when the facelifted Cayenne lineup will arrive but it’s widely expected to be for 2023.
Perhaps the most exciting Porsche SUV news will be the reveal of another though smaller model: the all-electric Macan, due later this year also as a ’23 model. Eventually, the Cayenne will receive the fully electrified treatment as well.
