The first all-new 2024 Ford Mustang GT will be up for grabs at Barrett-Jackson’s annual auction in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 28th.
The winner of the auction will receive VIN 001 of the seventh-generation Mustang, able to configure their GT whichever way they choose. All proceeds of the auction will go to charity, specifically benefiting JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Foundation), the leading global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy group.
This isn’t the first time Ford has rolled across the auction block in the name of charity, nor is it the first time a VIN 001 Mustang was up for grabs. In recent years, we’ve seen the Blue Oval offer up a Shelby GT500, Mach 1 and Bullit– proceeds again going towards a noble cause.
“Ford has a long tradition of supporting charities through the Barrett-Jackson auction, and we’re proud to offer the all-new Mustang GT to support worthy causes like juvenile diabetes research,” said Mustang Marketing Manager Jim Owens. “This seventh generation is our most powerful Mustang GT yet, and the winning bidder will not only support a good cause but also become the owner of the first Mustang GT.”
If you’ve been keeping up with any coverage surrounding the seventh-gen Mustang, you know that this GT is powered by the fourth-generation 5.0-liter V8 “Coyote” engine cranking out 486 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque when equipped with active-valve exhaust (480 HP and 415 lb-ft without). That makes it the most powerful production Mustang GT to date; however, the upcoming Dark Horse Mustang will be the new pinnacle of 5.0-liter performance, kicking things up a healthy notch to 500 horsepower.
The winner of the upcoming auction will be able to configure their “Five-Oh” from a list of options, including 11 exterior colors, new wheels, 3 colors of Brembo brake calipers (black, red and Grabber Blue), various interior packages and the available Performance Package. And, of course, 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic.
The auction is planned for Saturday, January 28th, at 7:30pm.
