Marque’s action and separate Toyota recall over airbags affects more than 2,300 units in New Zealand.
Toyota and its luxury brand Lexus are recalling more than 2,300 vehicles in New Zealand after discovering potential problems with airbags and a fire risk respectively.
Lexus New Zealand is recalling 1,064 vehicles over an issue that may affect the fuel tank vent tube on some IS, GS and RC models built between January 2012 and August 2018.
“This is a precautionary measure to inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel tank vent tube,” the company says.
It adds vehicles will be inspected and, if required, the tube replaced free of charge by Lexus dealers. Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by letter.
The action has been mirrored across the ditch where Lexus Australia is recalling 14,301 vehicles that may be blighted by the same problem.
Meanwhile, Toyota New Zealand is recalling 1,282 vehicles due to a potential issue affecting the driver’s airbag on some Avensis vehicles manufactured between September 2003 and February 2006.
“The replacement of the driver’s side airbag will be completed free of charge by Toyota stores. This work will take approximately one hour to complete,” it explains.
Owners with vehicles affected by the Lexus and Toyota recalls, which are traceable through registration data, will be contacted by the companies by letter.
