Ferrari’s first high-riding utility model has been out for all but a few days and the manufacturer has received such overwhelming demand that they may have to stop taking orders to safeguard the exclusivity of their products.

This has been a highly anticipated model. The whole world was watching Ferrari and their new Purosangue. Purists, competitors and potential buyers alike followed the process of Purosangue with a keen eye. It arrived earlier this week and it is suffice to say that the high-riding model has exceeded expectation in terms of claimed performance and overall aesthetics.
As a result, the Prancing Horse has received an overwhelming demand for the new vehicle and is considering closing the order books since they may not have the capacity to produce for the insatiable demand. Enrico Galliera, Commercial and Marketing Manager of Ferrari stated: “We risk not being able to satisfy demand, and maybe we will need to close the order intake very soon.”
Ferrari anticipates building no more than 2 500 examples of the Purosangue per year, tallying 20% of its annual sales. The automaker has stated it will want to adhere to its original product plan as not to reduce the exclusivity of the model or any others with the Prancing Horse either.
Ferrari has been taking pre-orders for the model since September 2018, when the original announcement was made. Galliera noted that when the model was confirmed to receive a V12, orders exploded and we can only imagine that after its muscular lines and crafted aesthetic were shown to the world, orders came rolling in.
Galliera mentioned that the average production lifecycle is about four to five years, which means between 12 000 and 15 000 units will be produced.
“We are committed to our clients and, despite the demand, we will keep control of the volume, something that is consistent with our DNA, with our founder mission, which is to remain extremely exclusive. And the only way to remain exclusive is to control demand and the offer,” Galliera added.
Existing Ferrari customers will be privileged to get the new model first. However, the Purosangue already generates strong interest from buyers that are new to the brand which is expected with the introduction of a performance SUV.
