Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari has launched the 296 GTS droptop hybrid supercar in India. The Ferrari 296 GTS is priced at Rs 6.24 crore (ex-showroom).
The launch of the hybrid Ferrari 296 GTS in India comes over a year after the drop-top supercar was revealed to the world in April 2022. The drop-top GTS has arrived more than nine months after the Maranello-based supercar marque launched the 296 GTB.
Like its hardtop twin, the Ferrari 296 GTS is powered by a 120-degree, 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine that is aided by a single electric motor. The total output from this hybrid powerplant is 819bhp and 740Nm of peak torque.
The Ferrari 296 GTS sends power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The 296 GTS sprints from 0-100km/h in 2.9 seconds with 200km/h coming up from a standstill in just 7.6 seconds. The Ferrari 296 GTS has a top speed of 330km/h.
The new Ferrari 296 GTS is quite similar to the GTB in terms of its design at the front. However, there are more changes in the middle and the rear with new buttresses and a more noticeable step between the aero bridge and the roof.
The multi-piece roof of the Ferrari 296 GTS can open out or fold into its storage area in just 14 seconds. The Ferrari 296 GTS can open and close its roofs at speeds of up to 45km/h.
The interiors of the Ferrari 296 GTS remain unchanged compared to the hardtop version of the car. The rear window in the cabin of the 296 GTS can be lowered to allow owners to hear the V6 engine explore its entire vocal range.
Ferrari also offers its Asseto Fiorano lightweight package for the 296 GTS. This package adds lightweight carbon fibre bits all around that not only help boost the aero performance of the 296 GTS by a significant amount it also helps bring down the weight from the claimed 1,540 kg dry weight as quoted by Ferrari.
