The facelifted Hyundai Palisade is now on sale in South Africa.
The premium SUV is available in a single Elite trim level with a choice of either a seven or eight-seat configuration each priced at R1,099,900.
Each purchase includes a 7-year/200,000km warranty and a 7-year/105,000km service plan.
Engine
The Palisade will once again be using the 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel found on the old models, which is capable of generating 142kW and 440Nm.
This is linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via the brand’s HTRAC all-wheel-drive system. As a result, the SUV is able to achieve a speed of 100km/h in 10.5 seconds before reaching its cap at 190km/h.
Fuel consumption, meanwhile, is pegged at 8.2l/100km.
Owners will also have access to a dial letting them select various drive modes and terrain responses for Comfort, Eco, Sport, Smart, Snow, Mud, and Sand.
Features
Visually, the updated Palisade has seen a number of changes over the outgoing iteration, including a redesigned black chrome grille, new rear fog lights and combination lamps, integrated side mirror indicators, and puddle lights located underneath each side mirror.
This is on top of existing items like 20-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights, and buyers will also have a choice of five colours – silver, blue, gray, white, and black.
The interior has seen a considerable workover, too, with numerous enhanced features for users to play with.
The new Palisade comes with a digital instrument cluster as well as a 12.3-inch HD infotainment screen which allows two people to connect their devices at once.
This entertainment unit, which is hooked up to a 12-speaker Infinity sound system, has been designed with the entire cabin in mind as a passenger talk function allows those in the front to communicate with those at the back of the car.
In a similar vein, those in the third row can activate a Quiet Mode, which disables the rear speakers while those in the front can continue to listen to music.
All three rows have access to USB ports, as well as their own climate control zone, and the second row seats even feature heating and ventilation functions.
The automaker has also included curtains on the rear windows for passengers to be able to shut out unwanted light, though natural light can still enter through one of the two moonroofs. In addition, the second and third benches can be folded flat to provide a rear storage area of 718 litres.
Back in the first row, passengers have access to a wireless phone charger, electronically-adjustable seats with memory functions, and a heated multifunction steering wheel with adaptive cruise control.
The car itself also has a five-star ANCAP safety rating and sees the inclusion of seven airbags, a 360-degree camera system with guidelines, forward collision avoidance, blind spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, front and rear park sensors, safe exit assist for rear passengers, and trailer stability assist.
