In this article:
Is the Mahindra KUV100 a good car?
The Mahindra KUV100 is a decent way to get around town, but the fact that it’s cheap to run (and maintain) is probably its biggest selling point.
Who is the Mahindra KUV100 a good car for?
The KUV100 is a good car for students and singles, retired folk, and single parents or small families who need a small, practical car but who aren’t bothered with performance and sharp handling. It’s a car that is cheap to service, and its parts are also known to be inexpensive.
Is the Mahindra KUV100 a good first car?
The KUV100 makes a good first car because it’s considered quite safe for its price and segment. The passenger cell of the Mahindra KUV100 is constructed with high strength steel to keep you safe in case of an accident. All KUV100 models have ABS, EBD, EDC, two airbags, speed-sensing door locks, child locks, an engine immobiliser, seatbelt reminders, and a collapsible steering column.
Is the Mahindra KUV 100 a good family car?
It’s perfectly suited to small urban families, but if you do a lot of travelling on SA’s highways, and you’re a dynamic driver, rather look elsewhere. Its handling doesn’t inspire confidence, especially when you’re cornering at speed. In the same breath, the Mahindra KUV100 is considered to be safe, and if you’re a relaxed driver, this probably won’t be an issue for you.
Is there a hybrid model?
No.

What’s it like to drive?
Reviewer’s opinion
An elevated seating position and a deep glass area combine to give the KUV100 an airy cabin ambience and excellent sightlines – perfect from placing this small vehicle’s extremes in confined spaces. It’s also a low-effort kind of car, with light controls, an easy-to-reach and slick-shifting gear lever, and logical (if unusual) ergonomics.
Combine this with fairly wide torque spread from both petrol- and diesel engines, a light and progressive clutch pedal take-up, and ample power assistance for the brakes and steering wheel, and you end up with a car that’s really no trouble to drive at all. Its easy controls also make a KUV100 Nxt perfect for novice drivers, who will find benefit in its nimble handling and tight turning circle as well.

What does it look like?
Exterior
Interior
Build quality is on par with the price, but it won’t win any interior design contests.
What is the Mahindra KUV100 like inside?
The interior is nothing to get too excited about, but all the most important features are there and the build quality is good enough, considering the price. The boot is capable of holding 243 litres with all seats in an upright position.
