Is the Jaguar I-Pace a good car?
First introduced locally in 2019, the Jaguar I-Pace is the first full-electric offering to come from Jaguar. Coinciding with the launch of the I-pace came a massive, R30-million Rand investment into the charging infrastructure in South Africa. The full-electric I-Pace is a compact, sports crossover capable of traversing both the urban and actual jungle, thanks to its all-wheel drive drivetrain.

What’s it like to drive?
Reviewer’s opinion
“Despite the fact that it’s heavy with all the batteries, the I-Pace will sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8-seconds. That’s faster than a 3.0-litre supercharged Jaguar F-Type; that’s rather impressive. The best part of electric cars is the performance; it’s the instant torque. It doesn’t matter what speed or throttle position, put your foot down and it launches super hard! It is addictive. “

Exterior
Interior
What is the Jaguar I-Pace like inside?
The I-Pace remains largely familiar and anyone who has experience with a Jaguar or Land Rover product will find the interior to be rather similar. The only major change is the gear selection which, on the I-Pace, consists of several gear selector buttons, rather than a dial or level.
The trimmings are of a high quality and the overall fit and finish is excellent, providing a true premium experience for all occupants. The strong slope to the dashboard makes the Jaguar feel more car-like than SUV-like.
Style
While the I-Pace has large-looking proportions, the overall size is rather manageable and the vehicle itself is fairly easy to drive. The I-Pace has a fastback, coupe-like style that makes it feel sporty and athletic, an impression augmented by the deep scalloping and air vents in areas like the bonnet. The I-Pace still has a traditional (but non-functional) front grille and enough traditional styling elements so that it doesn’t look out of place.
