The small budget family sedan from Honda with updated features. Everything you need to know about the Honda Amaze.

In this article:

Is the Honda Amaze a good car?

The Honda Amaze is the current small-budget family sedan offering from the Japanese firm. What makes it good is that recently, the model has been updated following customer feedback. Such feedback has made what was already a promising product something more formidable. The Amaze is suitable for a runabout with an attractive value proposition.

Who is the Honda Amaze a good car for?

The Honda Amaze is a good car for someone who needs a small family runabout that offers good value for money and has the tried and trusted Honda reliability to it. This is your ticket if you need a car where the boot area is its own entity.

Is the Honda Amaze a good first car?

The Honda Amaze will make a good first car. It’s safe and quite easy to drive. Easy to drive meaning that there’s an automatic CVT transmission on offer and there’s electronically assisted power steering. The vehicle is small so it’s easy to manoeuvre.

Is the Honda Amaze a good family car?

Yes, the Honda Amaze would make a good family car. Thanks to the 2470mm wheelbase, there is 420-litres of luggage capacity and there’s ample space in the cabin to accommodate a small family with leg and headroom aplenty. Since the updated interior does away with the two-tone beige in favour of a full-black one, it will be keeping the interior clean as well as wear a lot easier. You could say that the Honda Amaze would be decent for a long drive.

Is there a Hybrid Honda Amaze?

Currently, there is no hybrid variant of the Honda Amaze for sale in South Africa.

What’s it like to drive?

Reviewer’s opinion

“Conversely, the Honda Amaze is really easy to drive. The clear sightlines through those big windows are unusual in the modern era, and all the controls operate with the finely-honed consistency for which Hondas have always been known. “

What is the Honda Amaze like inside?

The updated Honda Amaze does away with the two-tone beige and grey interior in the pre-update model in favour of a full black interior with silver accents. You’re greeted with cloth seats and textured plastic material on the dash and door cards. Now in the Comfort trim, you gain a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Overall, the Amaze is one of the less radical interior designs Honda has implemented recently but still retains quality.

Style

Looking at the Amaze, you see some luxury yet sporty cues in the design. Namely the touches of chrome in the redesigned front grille with the chiselled front end. You could say the headlight and grille combo looks very Civic-like. The wheelbase is long with short overhangs and a low-slung roof but with good visibility from the windows. You also get two-tone machine-finished wheels. Honda has prevented the Amaze from looking toy-like with its small build.
