Quite an understated luxury saloon. Here's a great alternative you should consider. Everything you need to know about the Alfa Romeo Giulia
In this article:
Is the Alfa Romeo Giulia a good car?
The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a luxury saloon that’s under many radars. Many will tend to look at German favourites but Alfa Romeo here have actually produced a strong, sturdy and headturning package. It’s worth noting as well that this vehicle according to the Kinsey report dated 18 November 2020, was acknowledged as one of the most cost-effective cars to run. This is one of the cars that breaks the stigma that Italian cars are problematic and unreliable. That’s worth its weight in gold.
Who is the Alfa Romeo Giulia a good car for?
The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a good car for someone who wants a beautiful-looking, compelling vehicle that’s cost-effective to run. It’s also something different from the norm which is the BMW 3 series and Mercedes Benz C Class.
Is the Alfa Romeo Giulia a good first car?
If you have the finances to afford an Alfa Romeo Giulia, it’s debatable whether it’s a good first car but we’d err towards not recommending it as one. The 2.0-litre Turbo engine with 206kW found in the base model would be too powerful to handle in the hands of a first-time car owner. At the same time, if you’re a young driver, insurance costs may be high. The purchase price of a brand new one is out of many people’s reach though. Rather consider something smaller, affordable and less powerful.
Is the Alfa Romeo Giulia a good family car?
The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a good family car. As it’s a luxury saloon, cabin seating is spacious and can seat 5 adults comfortably. Luggage capacity in the boot will see 480-litres of space. If you want something different to the slew of SUVs out there and need some space too, the Alfa Romeo Giulia will handle the family duties relatively well.

What’s it like to drive?
Reviewer’s opinion
“There was no point during the Giulia’s weeklong stay where we weren’t excited to climb on board and go for a drive, and that’s really important in a sports saloon car. Its combination of style, grin-inducing handling and clever packaging makes it our favourite new Alfa Romeo product. Unfortunately, it has incredibly accomplished rivals and competes in a declining segment, meaning that only the Alfisti among us are likely to take the plunge.”

What is the Alfa Romeo Giulia like inside?
The Alfa Romeo Giulia is luxurious but streamlined inside. You have sporty elements such as a ‘D’ shape steering wheel and large instrument dials. The centre console is compact with slimline air vents as well as the aircon controls. Around the cabin, depending on if you go with the Veloce or Quadrifoglio trim levels, you’ll see touches of either silver or carbon fibre trim pieces. It’s tastefully done. The seats are supportive and geared for sports driving by the hefty bolsters. Overall, it’s comfortable, yet sporty.
Style
The Alfa Romeo Giulia as you’d come to expect from the brand, has a timeless style. It’s sleek and aerodynamically focused while still maintaining that signature Alfa Romeo triangular grille. Slim xenon headlamps with proportionately sized grille vents are upfront. The side shows off the sleek saloon shape and the rear rounds it off with a short boot and mini ducktail edge to the boot. The rear is complementary to the front with slim taillights and a black trim piece housing a dual exit exhaust.
