The system is also being engineered to be retrofittable as an accessory on Street and Dual Sport motorcycles from Model Year 2022 onward. For Zero, the breakthrough is not simply charging faster. It is making next-generation charging technology accessible across the motorcycle's ownership lifecycle.AdvertisementAdvertisement"DC Fast charging is an important benefit for making the transition to electric mobility and will attract more riders to the Zero brand. It's also a feature some of our customers have been asking us for, and we've been listening. We didn't just want to offer this technology on future Zero models but also give thousands of existing Zero owners the opportunity to benefit from this new capability, further increasing the value of their bike. That's why we will make the CCS port and DC Fast Charging module available as an accessory on relevant 2022 and newer motorcycles. And we're doing it at the right time- DC fast charging continues to expand rapidly across Europe and North America, giving riders greater freedom to travel farther and faster" said Pierre-Martin Bos, CEO Zero Motorcycles.Zero already allows customers to upgrade their standard 6.6 kW charge configuration on select Dual Sport and Street models to 12.6 kW through its Rapid Charge System, which can be purchased and installed through a local dealer. This Level 2 charging capability is an industry benchmark and complements the standard on-board charger, reducing typical charge times from 20% to 80% to under 45 minutes. By adding Level 3 DC Fast Charging on all Dual Sport and Street motorcycle models with a battery capacity of up to 17.3 kWh, Zero continues to push the boundaries by offering a 20% to 80% charge time of under 30 minutes. Additional information regarding compatible models, retrofit requirements, pricing, availability and final charging specifications will be announced as the development continues. *Zero Dual Sport and Street category models include S, SR, SR/S, SR/F, DS, DSR and DSR/X equipped with the Cypher III Operating SystemBecome a Motorcycle.com insider.
