Filmed at England's Dunsfold Aerodrome, better known as the former Top Gear test track, the video follows Pastrana as he explores the limits of the fan-assisted electric machine."This is what I'm talking about," Pastrana says after climbing from the cockpit. "You can do things you can't do with any other vehicle."AdvertisementAdvertisementThe prototype Pastrana drove is the same Spéirling that set the outright lap record at Dunsfold in 2025, lapping the circuit in 55.9 seconds. That eclipsed the previous record set by the Renault R24 Formula 1 car by more than three seconds.McMurtry AutomotiveThe McMurtry's performance comes from an unusual combination of twin electric motors producing 1,000 hp and a fan-generated downforce system capable of creating up to 4,410 pounds (2,000 kilograms) of aerodynamic grip from a standstill. The result is claimed acceleration from 0-60 mph in 1.55 seconds, along with the ability to generate 3 g in both cornering and braking.Pastrana's drive came just before this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, where he competed in the annual hillclimb. McMurtry co-founder Thomas Yates, himself a former quad racing champion, also spent the day trading laps with Pastrana in a variety of vehicles, including racing quads, a shifter kart and Caterham sports car before lining up the Spéirling against a collection of company vehicles in an impromptu drag race.The appearance comes as McMurtry prepares to begin customer deliveries of the production Spéirling PURE later this year. The road-legal track car gets several modifications from the prototype but keeps the fan-assisted downforce system that has become its signature. Production will be limited to fewer than 100 examples worldwide.
