There are plenty of recognizable tire brand names that claim to be the most durable at the best value. While this mechanic recommended a well-known brand as his top pick, most commenters disagree, accusing him of promoting the product only because he has a partnership with the brand. Would you trust his recommendation, or are you opting for a whole other brand entirely? Mechanic Shares ‘Best’ Tire Brand In a TikTok that received 68,000 views before it was deleted on Monday, mechanic Scott (@eichbrothers) gets asked, "What's actually the best tire brand, and why?" Scott's been selling tires for years, and his answers are specific. For a sedan, his top pick is Firestone. "Best quality," he says. "You could drive those, and it never seems like the tread goes down." For a bigger SUV, he upgrades his recommendation to Bridgestone, calling it "probably my favorite tire." And for heavy diesel trucks, he goes straight to the Bridgestone Transforce HT. "Best tire ever made," he adds. He also breaks down the practical differences between tire types. Highway tires give you a smooth, quiet ride, while all-terrain tires are more rugged, and you'll hear it. Mud tires are even more aggressive. The tradeoff is simple: highway tires are about comfort on pavement, and the further you go toward off-road, the more you'll notice the noise and feel. He also flags an important fit rule: stick to the right tire for your vehicle's load rating. What The Industry Says About His Picks Firestone and Bridgestone aren't rivals. Per Tires Easy, Bridgestone has two companies—Firestone, founded in America in 1900, and Bridgestone, based in Japan in 1931—with the merger happening in 1988 to form the largest tire and rubber manufacturing business on the planet. Today, they operate as two distinct brands within the same corporate umbrella, targeting different buyers. Tires Easy ranks Bridgestone #5 in its top 10 tire brands for 2026: Michelin Goodyear Continental BF Goodrich Bridgestone Cooper Falken Pirelli Toyo Yokohama Bridgestone-branded tires get the most advanced compound formulations and the bulk of the company's R&D investment, i.e., they're the premium offering, All Makes Auto Parts notes. Firestone, meanwhile, sits in the value lane: solid reliability, competitive tread life, lower upfront cost. Commenters React To Salesman’s Tire Recommendations "Any proper individual knows that Michelin are the best tires on the planet," a top comment read. "Lol Firestone? Immediately discredited this video," a person said. "So this guy is definitely a Firestone dealer," another wrote.
