ZALtTukstlsThis video would be a hard one to watch if it ended differently, as there's an absolutely insane crash that goes as well as it possibly could have gone. We've enjoyed many a Grind Hard Plumbing Co video around these parts, for any number of reasons. Lots of people have crazy visions (some of which may even be vehicular) in their heads, but not everyone has the requisite combination of tools, skills, and wherewithal to make them come to life. GHPC, though, seems to be able to actualize those visions more often than not.Did the world need a monster chopper? Maybe not, but did you want to see it? It seems like a whole lot of us did. By a similar token, does the world need a kart that's actually made out of two entire dirt bikes? I mean, if you think the world needs more creative joy generated by humans, then yes, maybe we do.But oh boy, just because this kart's parents are two dirt bikes (and a group of insane builders who chronicle their builds on YouTube) does not mean the resulting kart handles anything like a dirt bike. I mean, that's as you'd probably expect, but there's no way to anticipate the exact degree to which it does not handle that way. It might sound like a supercross track, but that's not the driving experience.Wario KartSome Lunatic Is Putting A Turbo Onto a Harbor Freight Motor. Plans Insane Go-KartBUM Just Made a Working LEGO Go-Kart or Maybe This Qualifies as a LEGO CarAdvertisementAdvertisementThe video starts off like an upbeat (but chill) build video, including a look at fabricating various custom parts to make this build come together in the GHPC workshop. After all, there are practical considerations if you decide to harness two dirtbikes to work together in tandem as two opposite sides of a kart. Getting them to steer together, getting the throttles synced, getting the clutches to work together, and also getting all four brakes to work together using a single foot pedal; all of those are unique engineering challenges that have to be conquered. And yet, in the systematic way that he seems to do, Ethan tackles each of these challenges and works them through until they do what he needs them to do. By the last part of the video, when it's time for the test drive, things are looking pretty solid. How solid? I mean, solid enough that he's truly sending it out on their test course. Granted, it's home field, so their knowledge of that course clearly comes in handy. But even that doesn't always mean you know how any vehicle is going to handle over every single bit of the course. There's a crash at the end of this video that's the kind where, if you didn't know that it all turned out okay, might very well be horrifying. The kart somersaults, complete with its driver, and ends up leaned nose-side down against a tree. We see what happened from multiple angles, including an onboard clip toward the end. Amazingly, the guy was able to immediately spring up and walk away from this crash, and also watch all the different angles (and clearly participate in the editing of this video) and take his family through it later. I don't think there's any way to watch what happened here and honestly claim otherwise. At the end, he says one of his knees took the biggest hit, but he's still up and walking around with seemingly no serious injuries and just a little bit of repair work that needs to be done to what seems like a solid build.Listen, I know I can't make you do anything (and nor would I want to). But speaking as someone who once had a crash where I was dragged on my helmet visor (which was thankfully covering my face, and from which I walked away needing nothing but a new helmet and some new moto gear), wear a helmet for your loved ones, if no one else.Because they're the ones who'll have to deal with whatever happens if you don't.
