Trucks like this one are why the half-ton hauler has quietly become one of the most fun corners of the hot-rod world. Up for grabs right now on Hagerty Marketplace is a 1955 Chevrolet 3100 stepside that looks like a weathered survivor at first glance but is packing a serious surprise underhood, and it is crossing the block with no reserve.Photo: Hagerty MarketplaceThe '55 model year was a big deal for Chevy's pickups. It kicked off the Task Force generation that replaced the long-running Advance Design trucks, bringing a wraparound windshield, a wider grille, and cleaner lines that pointed the way toward the trucks that followed. This particular 3100 has been worked over since 2023 and landed with its current owner in November of 2025.Photo: Hagerty MarketplaceThe wild part is the powertrain. Sitting between the fenders is a BluePrint Engines 502ci V8 fed by Holley Sniper fuel injection, breathing through an Edelbrock intake, aluminum heads, forged pistons, and a hydraulic roller cam. Spent gases head out through tubular headers and a dual exhaust with cutouts. Backing all that grunt is a TH400 three-speed automatic that sends power to the rear wheels, with a Tanks Inc. in-tank pump keeping the fuel flowing.Photo: Hagerty MarketplaceThe body wears a blue-and-black finish with a deliberately worn, faux-patina look, riding on a replacement frame. Five-spoke Weld wheels fill the arches, suspension duties fall to Belltech front shocks and rear coilovers, and the truck stops with front discs and rear drums. Detail touches include a windshield visor, polished front bumper, louvered tailgate, wooden bed planks, tubbed rear wheel wells, and a back-up camera.AdvertisementAdvertisementClimb inside and the cabin keeps the resto-mod theme going. TMI Products bucket seats are wrapped in tan and brown, split by a center console with a B&M shifter for the automatic. The driver faces a Classic Instruments gauge cluster plus a dash-mounted AutoMeter tach, and entertainment comes courtesy of a Jensen flip-up head unit running Kicker speakers.Photo: Hagerty MarketplaceThe seller notes a few honest imperfections in the finish and says the steering column may need replacing down the road. It comes with manuals, parts receipts, a dyno sheet from 2023, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller's name listing it as an antique vehicle. With bidding already active and no reserve in play, this 502-powered stepside is one to watch.Photos courtesy of Hagerty Marketplace.
