A GPS meter clocked it at "71 mile an hour" – right where the factory gearing is supposed to put it. The parking lot test came with an unexpected casualty: a stray stone kicked up by the car shattered the lens on a small action camera mounted to the body. "Look, smashed the lens. Where did that happen?" Talbot noted, apparently surprised a 70 mph RC car could fling road debris hard enough to do that. The Traxxas XO-1 held the RTR speed crown for roughly a decade, per China Hobby Line, before the Limitless 120 arrived to contest it. "But now the Arrma Limitless takes the crown, supposedly. Out on a public road, the first two serious runs hit 87 mph and 92 mph before battery voltage sag triggered cut-outs and killed the runs early. Running two 4S packs at full throttle for sustained stretches demands brutal current delivery, and voltage drop is an inherent limitation of the chemistry.That last attempt proved decisive. GPS data confirmed the car reached 108 mph before it lost the road, plowing into a grassy ditch at full speed – the wreck shown at the start of the video. When Talbot retrieved it and examined the tires, the cause was obvious. "I can't really see any reason why I crashed other than a chunk missing from the tire," he said. A significant chunk of the tire failed at high speed, almost certainly throwing off the car's stability and causing it to veer out of control. Despite the impact, the GPS meter had already logged the number: "But 108!" as Talbot put it.The 108 mph figure is pretty incredible. It's a genuine GPS-confirmed speed run from a car you can buy at a hobby store, and it fell short of ARRMA's 120+ mph claim – though voltage cut-outs on earlier runs and the blowout ending the final attempt mean the car may never have reached the conditions necessary to hit the ceiling.
