Devou Park sits on 700 acres overlooking the Ohio River on the western part of Covington, Kentucky. Looking across the river, Devou Park has some of the best views of Cincinnati, OH. Filled with lush grass and trees, it was thought to be a perfect place to hold a spectacular car event. With the resources of Covington, the fifth largest city in Kentucky, Concours Devou was founded last year, featuring the tag line, The Concours With a View. The view is the top picture, showing part of the Cincinnati skyline with the Bengals' home field, Paycor Stadium sitting just across from a portion of the Covington riverfront. The concours presented 12 classes, many that could be expected and a few that come off as being somewhat unique. For the next couple of weeks, I'm going to present the vehicles that were on display on an absolutely perfect early autumn day. Though there were some magnificent automobiles on hand, the event is more than just cars as all proceeds benefit the Northern Kentucky Children's Advocacy Center (https://nkycac.org/), which, according to their mission, "provides a coordinated response to concerns of child abuse in a child-focused environment by offering prevention, evaluation, and treatment to children and families."As is the case with most concours events there were some "special" cars that were not part of any class. They are cars with admiring such as this vintage 1955 Mercedes Benz 300 SL gullwing. A few others that were not part of the actual event but were worth a good look were a DeLorean DMC that is part of the collection of America's Packard Museum up in Dayton, OH, a classic Cadillac Series 62 convertible, and a famed Ford GT. Starting tomorrow we'll get into the actual class entries.
