Ruf Ehra Packs 650 HP in a Sultry Widebody ShapeRUFA fresh model from Ruf is always a thing to appreciate, and Monterey Car Week often comes with just such a treat. Take a gander at the new Ehra, a widebody model from Ruf that just debuted on Friday at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering. While it has a new name, the Ehra is based on the company's familiar carbon fiber monocoque chassis, and is powered by a 3.6-liter twin-turbo boxer six-cylinder. Output sits at a prodigious 650 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. Said power is then doled out to all four wheels via a seven-speed manual transmission. It's intended to be a model "that can tackle extreme performance while retaining everyday comfort and drivability," according to the company.RUFThe "Ehra" name is inspired by the Ehra-Lessien proving ground, a place you may recall has more than a little history between Ruf and Road & Track. Phil Hill was the one behind the wheel when the Yellowbird hit 211 miles per hour at Ehra-Lessien back in 1987; Ruf, meanwhile, has gone on to produce plenty of epic Porsche-based or Porsche-adjacent sports cars and supercars since.AdvertisementAdvertisementThis new Ehra is generally based on the CTR Anniversary that debuted back in 2017, but it raises the bar with a number of tweaks. From a looks perspective, Ruf designed new front and rear fascias, and the front track is widened by 2.3 inches, while the rear grows by 2.1. A widebody kit provides coverage, and to enhance downforce, the Ehra gains a new active spoiler on the rear deck made out of carbon fiber. It automatically pops up at highway speeds, but the driver can manually deploy it, too.Photo credit: RUFPhoto credit: RUFPhoto credit: RUFYou'll also notice new centerlock forged wheels, which are unique to the Ehra. These bright finish wheels are matched with an exterior finished in Liquid Silver. Inside, brown leather is paired with a "Pasha" checkered flag pattern on the seats, and of course, you get your typical Ruf green instruments.Ruf didn't say how many Ehra it will build, but we suspect it will be both extremely limited in number and extremely expensive to take home.RUFAdvertisementAdvertisementYou Might Also LikeIf You Can Only Own One Car, Make It One of TheseThese Are the Most Popular Cars by State
