With a new head honcho in place, it appears Harley-Davidson is ready to take a new approach. This circles around making the brand more accessible for the masses, as evident by aggressive price cuts throughout the range. Building on that, the bikemaker has just confirmed that it is bringing one of its most popular cruisers back from the dead. That too, with the aim to make it cheaper than it was half a decade ago! Harley-Davidson Has Confirmed Its Plan To Resurrect The Sportster 883 Harley-DavidsonYes, you read that right. As part of its new strategy, Harley-Davidson is ready to resurrect the iconic Sportster 883 platform. The confirmation comes from documents presented in the official dealer meetings, along with comments from the brand officials. This move comes after Harley’s market research, where several dealers and customers requested the return of the iconic cruiser. Not only in the US, but also in other areas such as Frankfurt, Germany, and Shanghai, China. An Air-Cooled Engine Will Power The New Sportster Harley-DavidsonWhile details are scarce, Harley has confirmed the new cruiser will feature an air-cooled engine. That would make it a rarity in the current Sportster range, all of which have Revolution Max liquid-cooled engines. We also know it will be an engine based on the 883cc 45-degree V-twin from yesteryears rather than the 1,200cc platform. Whether the performance will be the same remains a question due to the new emission norms. They were also the reason why the previous range was discontinued. Notable engine specs include: The Silhouette Reveals Some Juicy Details Harley-DavidsonOther than the engine, we can note some nitty-gritty details from the silhouette of the cruiser shown in the official presentation. These include: Circular air filter cover Two-into-two exhausts Round instrument cluster (beefier than the 2022 model) Telescopic forks Minimalistic fuel tank Pillion seat The 2027 Sportster 883 Will Bear An Aggressive Price Tag Harley-DavidsonThe return of the Sportster also fits the new CEO’s plans to make the brand more accessible. That’s also why Harley is aiming to price the new Sportster 883 around the $10,000 mark. If so, it would sit right alongside the current cheapest Harley cruiser: the Nightster. More importantly, it will bear a price similar to the last iteration of the Iron 883 from 2022. Oh, and owing to the tariff troubles, Harley plans to build the new Sportster in the US for the US. The launch is said to be imminent in the near future, either by the end of 2026 or early 2027. Source: Harley-Davidson
