When it comes to off-road performance, Chevrolet's Silverado 1500 ZR2 is missing one very important thing. Up against the likes of Ford's F-150 Raptor R and the Ram 1500 SRT TRX, it's down by several hundred horsepower. Not anymore, though. Hennessey has just announced its take on the ZR2, the Hennessey Goliath 700 ZR2. It fits a twin-screw blower to the 6.2-liter V8 to take horsepower to a level that can almost match Ford. The ZR2 Won't Get Left Behind Any Longer Hennessey PerformanceGM's 6.2-liter engine, as found in the stock Silverado ZR2, makes just 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. That might be fine up against the 450 hp of the V6 EcoBoost Raptor, but even against Ram's RHO with a 540-horse inline-six, it just isn't enough.Enter Hennessey Performance with a supercharger, air-to-water intercooler, and new engine management software. It pushes the engine to 700 hp and 611 pound-feet of torque, enough to get this extra-tall truck from zero to 60 in just 4.2 seconds. It's still not quite up to the 777-hp TRX or the 720-hp Raptor R, but it's probably close enough.Hennessey Performance Especially since the Goliath has at least one killer feature the other two don't. Multimatic's magical DSSV shocks are still here, and now they're attached to a new, taller, and beefier BDS suspension. It includes new upper control arms, and gives the 35-inch tires plenty of room to move around.New Hennessey steel bumpers front and rear tuck the protection closer to the bodywork. That lets you get closer to obstacles and improves the off-road numbers that let you get up, over, and back down again over almost anything.Hennessey adds loads of extra LED lights. It also puts a new carbon fiber vent on the ZR2's hood that actually lets air flow through for better cooling. A stainless exhaust makes sure the supercharged engine can be heard at all times. The Texan tuner gives the interior some love, too. New embroidered headrests, all-weather mats with company branding, and serialized plaques for the cabin help round off the package. Ultra-Limited, But Will There Be Ultra Demand? Hennessey Performance Hennessey is only going to build 100 copies of this truck, and it will sell them through its authorized Chevrolet dealer network. The price starts from $139,950, and that could make it a tough sell.Sure, this truck will stand out, and you get Hennessey badges. But it has less power than the factory Ford and Ram options, for around $26,000 less than a Raptor R and $40,000 less than a TRX. It still comes with a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty through Hennessey, but that's a lot of value for exclusivity.Still, the 700 hp is more than Hennessey offers from any other normal GM 6.2-liter. If you want more, you might want to inquire about the company's take on the Cadillac Escalade V. The Hennessey Escalade H1000 package transforms that already big-power beast into a monster that puts down 1,005 horses and 882 torques. If they'll put that in a ZR2 for you, it would show the TRX and Raptor who the real king of the lizards is.Hennessey Goliath 700 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 (11)
