SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The number of vehicles entering the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally for 2026 was down 10% from the five-year average, the South Dakota Department of Transportation said. The vehicle count was 448,166, which is about 50,000 less than the five-year average of 498,042. The SD DOT counted 537,459 entering vehicles in 2025, which was the 85th anniversary. Officials have said that historically, the vehicle count and attendance are lower in the year following an anniversary.chart visualization The SD DOT counts entering vehicles at nine locations.
