The BYD Seal 08 is expected to be priced between RMB 200,000 and 300,000, forming a sibling model matrix with the Dynasty series’ Han L. Recently, spy photos of the camouflage test vehicle for BYD’s new flagship sedan, the Seal 08, have surfaced online. According to the plan announced by BYD at the end of 2025, the Seal 08 will form the “Ocean 8 Series Dual Flagships” alongside the Sealion 08 and is scheduled to make its official debut in the first quarter of 2026. Spy shots of the Seal 08 and the Sealion 08 The spy shots show the vehicle covered in camouflage wrap bearing the “OCEAN 8” lettering, with some of its contour lines faintly visible. Overall, the Seal 08 continues the design language of the Ocean-S concept car. It features sleek side profiles, semi-recessed door handles for optimized aerodynamic efficiency, and a fastback silhouette, giving the entire vehicle a very sharp and streamlined character. Regarding the rear, the visible contours suggest the new model is expected to feature a full-width taillight design, creating a wavy visual effect. It is reported that the Seal 08 is based on the Ocean-S concept, with a length exceeding 4.9 meters and a wheelbase of 3 meters. This size positions it in the mid-to-large-size sedan segment, complementing the currently available Seal series models. Spy shots of the Seal 08 test vehicle In terms of technical configuration, the new car will also be a culmination of BYD’s latest technologies. For example, it will feature the e-Platform 5.0 and the fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system. The pure electric version is expected to have a range of over 700 km, while the hybrid version’s combined range will exceed 2000 km. Paired with megawatt-class fast-charging, it can replenish 400 km of range in just 5 minutes. For intelligent driving, the new car will be equipped with the God’s Eye-B (DiPilot 300) system. It features a lidar unit on the roof, supported by 12 ultrasonic sensors and 5 millimeter-wave radars around the body, enabling functions like urban NOA piloting, highway NCA, and over 300 types of automated parking. As the first all-new model launched after the cumulative sales of BYD’s Ocean Network surpassed 6 million units, industry analysts predict the Seal 08 will have an estimated price range of 200,000 to 300,000 yuan, forming a “sister-car” matrix with the Han L from the Dynasty series.
