The new model was designed by the Mercedes-Benz design team and will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October. First teased in June with concept imagery and preliminary technical specifications, the Smart #2 is built on the brand’s ECA pure electric architecture. This platform was developed specifically for small-format electric vehicles, enabling a turning circle of just 6.95 meters. DesignThe Smart #2 retains the two-door, two-seater silhouette from the brand’s legacy. The front fascia is characterised by expressive headlights and a closed-off grille. Technical specificationsAccording to filings with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Smart #2 is a dedicated two-seater electric sedan. The vehicle will be available in two different body lengths, 2,751 mm and 2,764 mm, both versions maintain a width of 1,669 mm and a height of 1,555 mm, with a wheelbase of 1,875 mm. The curb weight is listed at 1,130 kg, and the vehicle is capable of reaching a top speed of 140 km/h. The Smart #2 is powered by a 60 kW (80 hp) electric motor. It utilises lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells supplied by CATL. The vehicle comes standard with an Event Data Recorder (EDR) system and offers an optional Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) device. Range and ChargingThe vehicle has a 35.7 kWh battery pack, delivering a range of about 300 km under the WLTP cycle. The system is capable of charging from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes using DC fast charging. According to China EV DataTracker, Smart delivered 1,841 cars in July 2026 in China, down 32.2% Year-Over-Year.
