Manthey built a Porsche that circled the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:55, which would have been good enough for most Porschephiles to retire and talk about it the rest of their lives. Instead, they built a better Porsche and lowered their own record by another five seconds.“We are excited to announce that the latest 911 GT3 (992.2) equipped with Manthey Kit, driven by Porsche factory driver Ayhancan Güven, has set a new lap time of 6:50.863 minutes on the 12.9 mile (20.832 km) configuration of the Nürburgring—an improvement over the previous time with the car set at the end of last year in sub-optimal conditions,” said Manthey.Manthey is a full-service maker and engineer of Porsche parts for road and race cars. The team fields the green and yellow - called the Grello - Porsche 911 in races across Europe, including the Nurburgring 24. Team accomplishments include: six class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, eight world championship titles in the FIA World Endurance Championship, seven overall victories at the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring and team and driver championships in the DTM in 2023 and 2025.“We’re thrilled that, under better conditions, we were able to beat our lap time once again with the 911 GT3 Manthey Kit,” Christoph Breuer, director Road Cars of the Manthey Racing GmbH. “(Porsche Werks driver) Ayhancan drove an amazing lap and proved once again what the Kit is capable of—being nearly five seconds faster than its predecessor is truly a testament to the development work and the creative collaboration with Porsche.”Manthey Racing 911“I’m really happy that we were finally able to demonstrate the true potential of the 911 GT3 with Manthey Kit on the Nordschleife” said Ayhancan Güven, Porsche works driver. “I really enjoyed the lap—it’s such a great car to drive on this track! Since I usually do most of my laps here with the Grello (race car), I have a high reference point. But in some sections of the track, the speed actually feels very similar, which is impressive and demonstrates how well the road cars and the Manthey Kits are developed.”While the time does represent a five-second improvement over the previous 911 GT3 (992.1 generation) with Manthey Kit, it’s only six seconds quicker than the standard 2025 911 GT3 (992.2) with manual transmission. Five seconds in almost 13 miles—is that worth it? Heck yeah! It's so good that Porsche will sell you one of the kits.“Porsche now offers a Manthey kit for the current 911 GT3 (992.2) for even better performance on the racetrack,” Porsche said. “The kit generates significantly greater downforce and, as a result, allows higher potential cornering speed. The suspension has been specially adapted for track use, and the brakes are designed for the particularly high demands of track days. The new Manthey Kit was developed in close collaboration between the Porsche Development Center in Weissach and the engineers from Manthey in Meuspath. The components, which are optimized for track use, will be sold and installed by Manthey-certified US Porsche Centers and do not compromise the existing factory warranty of the subject vehicle.”True, other cars have lapped the Nordschliefe quicker. Ford recently posted a lap time of 6:40.835 minutes in a Mustang GTD Competition, and 06:15.977 in a Ford GT Mk IV, while something called a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype did a 6:22.091. And don't forget Timo Bernhard's 5:19.546 in the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo in 2018, followed by Romain Dumas' 6:05.336 the following year in the Volkswagen ID.R.
