The fun is the crashes. No one ever seems to get hurt crashing their homemade contraptions in the the famous Red Bull Soapbox races, held all over the world in the warm summer months. Last week they held them in Los Angeles, where traffic was basically invented and has not been solved since.“If these drivers can survive the chaos of Hollywood, they won’t be seeing stars, they’re gonna be stars,” said no less a celebrity than the real, actual Dale Earnhardt Jr., who was emceeing the event. “Welcome to LA traffic! These drivers are going to experience what every LA commuter does every day: choosing the right freeway.”Hosted by none other than Dale Jr., the race went off with many, many hitches. The YouTube video of the competition makes even Bristol look tame. It’s almost an hour long, so settle in and don’t plan on getting any work done for the next 54 minutes. See ya when you finally get to your downtown LA offramp.
