Gasgoo Munich- The China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance released its monthly data for June 2026 on July 16. The data shows continued growth in China's power battery sector, with increases in production, sales, and installations for both the month and the first half of the year.Production figures also showed strong performance. Combined production of power and energy storage batteries reached 206.0 GWh in June — a 7.5% monthly increase and a 59.5% increase from a year earlier. For the first six months of the year, cumulative production reached 1,068.9 GWh, reflecting a 53.3% year-on-year rise.Image Source: China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance (same below)Sales figures also showed significant growth. Combined sales of power and energy storage batteries rose to 196.0 GWh in June, rising 7.6% from May and 49.1% from a year ago. Power batteries accounted for 133.4 GWh of that total — 68.1% of the mix — up 41.8% annually. Energy storage batteries, meanwhile, recorded sales of 62.6 GWh, representing 31.9% of the total, with growth of 67.5%. Looking at the first half, cumulative sales reached 979.4 GWh, a 48.6% increase. Power batteries contributed 661.3 GWh, while energy storage batteries reached 318.1 GWh, rising 83.4% year-on-year.On the export front, combined shipments of power and energy storage batteries reached 36.2 GWh in June, accounting for 18.5% of the month's sales. That represents a 23.7% monthly increase and a 48.7% annual increase. Power battery exports totaled 25.5 GWh, rising 60.8%, while energy storage exports rose 26.1% to 10.7 GWh. For the first half, cumulative exports reached 181.3 GWh, driven primarily by power batteries.A key indicator for the new-energy vehicle sector, domestic power battery installations reached 76.5 GWh in June — up 6.4% month-on-month and 31.5% year-on-year. In terms of technology, lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries remain dominant. LFP installations totaled 63.7 GWh, accounting for 83.3% of the market and rising 34.4% from last year. Ternary (NCM) batteries reached 12.7 GWh, or 16.5% of the total, with an 18.1% increase. Cumulative installations for the first half stood at 335.6 GWh, up 12.0%. LFP batteries accounted for 272.0 GWh of that, keeping their market share steadily above 80%.Overall, China's power battery industry sustained its trajectory of high-quality development in June and the first half of 2026. Significant gains in production, sales, and exports provided support for the growing new-energy vehicle sector.
