Having access to a Porsche 911 GT3 at 21 years old is one thing. Having the maturity to drive it responsibly on public roads is another. A young driver in Washington recently discovered that lacking the latter can have serious consequences—like ending up in the back of a police car in tears, facing the possibility of losing a very expensive sports car.

According to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, the incident began on October 18, 2026. Shortly before 6:30 p.m., Sergeant Wallin spotted the blue Porsche allegedly being driven recklessly on northbound Interstate 5. The officer initiated a pursuit, but quickly called it off when police say the driver drove through downtown Everett at high speed.

However, a brightly colored Porsche is not exactly discreet, especially one that appears to be a 991.2-generation GT3 modified with a 911 GT3 RS hood and rear spoiler. Police deputies and drone operators were able to keep track of the car which allegedly continued to drive recklessly. Eventually, police were able to get ahead of the Porsche, and successfully deployed spike strips.

The chase was over, but not the drama. Audio from police bodycam footage reveals that the Porsche driver was crying while being read his Miranda rights and arrested. Then things turned worse for the driver when the police informed him that his car was likely going to end up belonging to the sheriff’s office.

"Is there anything I can do to get my car back?" the driver asked. “Not run from the police,” is the officer’s quick (and wise) response.

The sheriff's office is now pursuing the legal seizure of the Porsche, meaning the driver could potentially lose his GT3 permanently. This could end up being a very expensive lesson for the young man. If you want to drive a Porsche like a race car, you should probably take it to a racetrack.
