If you think big engines are extinct, Automobili Rodrigues is here to prove you wrong. The Italian supercar manufacturer, or more accurately, a coachbuilder, has just shocked us with a supercar that gets an engine soo big, we still find it hard to believe it's true. The company's newest hand-built hyper GT is called the Berlinetta Veloce, and it's a hypercar that goes beyond simple reasoning. Bringing The Art Of Coachbuilding Back rodrigues-berlinetta-veloce-driving-1Very little is probably known about Automobili Rodrigues in the U.S. car scene, but this new brand is presenting itself as an Italian coachbuilder with roots in the Modena style of hammer-formed aluminum bodywork. The company has many different models, and each is individually customized, which means no two models are the same. This also means that these cars are outrageously expensive. When we contacted Automobili Rodrigues, we were informed that the price tag for its hyper luxury cars ranges from anywhere between $5 million to $10 million.rodrigues-berlinetta-gt-rear-1The latest creation is a classic GT design but with advanced features and modern touches. It's got a long hood, smooth roofline, and a stance that looks ready to pounce even when parked. The cabin is also pure custom flex, and when you step inside you will see things like custom Italian leather, fancy woods, hand brushed metal, and controls milled from solid billets.Everything about the car, inside and out, is handbuilt, and they also mention a commission plate with your name on it, which is peak rich-person energy. A V12 And A Massive 9.0-Liter With 18 Pistons Are The Engine Options rodrigues-xii-v12Even though the car looks rather stunning, what really caught our attention was the massive engine choices available. All models are available with either a 7.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 or a giant 9.0-liter, 18-cylinder engine called the Triangolare 18.The V12, which insanely enough is the smaller engine, is F1 derived. It uses a dry sump setup, summons over 900 horses from hell, and revs up to 10,200 rpm. That is screaming performance territory, but then again, the Corvette ZR1X has more than 1,000 ponies. But, that second option is really going to give you one heck of an ego boost when you hit the car meets.rodrigues-berlinetta-gt-front-1The Triangolare 18, although a massive 9.0-liter unit, is being called an ultra-compact engine that features 18 opposed pistons, is valveless, and turbocharged, and supercharged. It's also possible to send shock waves to the wheels with a massive 1,954 lb-ft of torque at only 2,100 rpm. Truly shocking! If you are a real purist, and a rich one at that, you can even opt for a manual transmission in either engine option. I don't think anything in this world currently has a 9.0-liter mated to manual transmission setup, so this is pretty wild. An Ultra Rare Super GT For The Ultra Rich rodrigues-berlinetta-veloce-front-1I have driven quite a few exclusive supercars and hypercars in my lifetime, but this one sits pretty high up in the "probably never" category. These cars are no joke. They also get some of the best tech you would expect in a car that costs millions. The proactive suspension system called Cloud Ride is supposed to react before you even finish thinking about the road. That's a big claim, but it feels like they are selling the idea that this is not some heavy fancy cruiser. It is a proper thoroughbred you can send through corners, then chill in for a thousand-mile road trip without feeling cooked.Production is going to be super limited. It takes thousands of hours of work per car, because this is coachbuilding, not a manufacturing assembly line. So yeah, this is one of those unicorn builds that only a handful of people will ever touch. And, if the Triangolare 18 is even half as real as Automobili Rodrigues makes it sound, then this Berlinetta Veloce might be the wildest hypercar of 2026.
