Motorlux Kicks Off Monterey 2026Mark VaughnHard to believe this all started 25+ years ago as a small party in Gordon McCall's motorcycle shop.Motorlux 2026 welcomed more than 4,000 guests for an immersive evening featuring over 120 vehicles, 15 aircraft, 27 culinary partners - including two Michelin Guided restaurants - and 55 beverage partners (wine! gin! vodka! one lone Guiness stand!). There weren't as many airplanes this year but the quality of the cars seemed to be up. The food was really good, including the famous "Wall O' Bacon" that adorned the north end of the tarmac. As Homer Simpson would have said, "Mmmmmmm bacon."1)Photo credit: Mark VaughnThis P51-D Mustang was built in Inglewood, California, and it has famously been part of the Coutches collection / American Aircraft Sales Co. since 1964.AdvertisementAdvertisementThe P-51H was the final production model of the Mustang and the fastest of all variants, optimized for high-altitude combat in the Pacific theater near the end of World War II.2)Photo credit: Mark VaughnIs it real or is it Memorex?
