Image: Tata MotorsBillionE Mobility has ordered 250 units of Tata Motors’ Prima E.55S, a 55-tonne electric prime mover. The company plans to deploy these trucks to transport steel, cement and other industrial goods over long distances on major logistics routes in Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.Tata Motors manufactures the Prima E.55S in two variants, one with a 300 kWh LFP battery pack and one with a 450 kWh LFP battery pack. BillionE Mobility has specified the 450 kWh unit, which can deliver a range of up to 350 kilometres on a single charge. Tata Motors says that the E.55S can be fast-charged via a CCS2 dual-gun charger in as little as 1.5 hours, but has not specified whether this figure refers to a 0–100% charge or a partial charge.The Prima E.55S has a single permanent magnet synchronous motor mounted on the rear axle, producing up to 470 kW of power. Tata Motors says that the heavy-duty electric truck can climb grades of up to 28%.The company equips the Prima E.55S with an array of driver assistance and safety features, including cruise control, driver monitoring system, electronic braking system, lane departure warning and tyre pressure monitoring system. It offers advanced emergency braking systems, lane keeping assist system, forward collision warning and several more driver assistance systems as options.BillionE Mobility had ordered the Prima E.55S earlier as well, and Tata Motors handed over the first batch from that order on 10 April. The local e-MaaS provider operates more than 125 electric trucks and aims to have 1,500 heavy-duty models in its fleet.tatamotors.com
