FordFord is recalling more than 11,000 Ranger pickup trucks over faulty rearview camera displays. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has published a recall report that states 11,405 2026 model Ford Rangers are potentially affected, with around 47 percent estimated to have the defect."Affected vehicles may experience an unexpected blank or black SYNC 4 Center Stack display," the report states. "If this occurs, the rear-view camera (RVC) image will be unavailable when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. A rear-view camera that does not display an image while in reverse can reduce the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash."FordAccording to the report, the affected displays were supplied by Suzhou Dongshan Display Inc. in China, and the recalled trucks were produced from April 21, 2026, to September 3, 2026.The screens may contain "potentially counterfeit parts"."On August 20, 2026, the issue was presented to Ford's Critical Concern Review Group (CCRG)," the report continues.Ford said an analysis of six returned warranty parts determined the problem was caused by an electrical short circuit stemming from a cracked capacitor on the display's Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA)."Further analysis indicated that a specific batch of PCBAs had been assembled using substandard capacitors that were subject to this failure."The substandard capacitors are believed to be potentially counterfeit parts."FordBut Ford has yet to come up with a remedy for the issue. The report adds: "Ford Motor Company is working to provide parts for this repair. When the remedy becomes available, Ford will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge."Ford Ranger owners concerned that their vehicle might be affected can check by searching their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in the NHTSA's database.Read More From First For AutosGeneral Motors President Explains 'Long Game' EV Strategy Amid Relaxing Environmental RegulationsSubaru Unveils 2 Ultra-Limited Anniversary Sports Cars, and Only 650 Will Be Made86-Year-Old Driver Busted Going 110 MPH Says He's Now 'a Dead Man Walking' After Viral ArrestThis story Ford Recalls Thousands of Ranger Trucks Over Potentially Counterfeit Parts first appeared on First For Autos.
