Independently developed SC01 European version nears final prototype validation, 1,000-unit limit. According to foreign media reports, the all-electric compact sports car SC01 from China is planned to make its debut in Europe this year. Under the plan, the SC01 will commence production in Italy and be sold in select European markets, with a limited production run of 1,000 units. It is reported that the European version of the SC01 was independently developed and designed. It has currently entered the final stage of prototype vehicle validation and is scheduled to launch within 2026. Let’s briefly review the origins of the compact sports car SC01. The SC01 was born from a Chinese auto culture startup team called “Gongjiangpai”. Its founder, Feng Xiaotong, is a sports car enthusiast, and the company was initially known for vehicle modifications. With funding support from the tech giant Xiaomi, the team first unveiled the concept of the SC01 compact sports car in 2022 and officially launched it to the market in April 2025, with a starting price of 229,800 yuan. Currently, the Chinese version of the SC01 is responsible for research and development by Jiangongpai, while the production is handled by JMEV (Jiangling Group New Energy). Since its launch, the SC01 compact sports car has attracted significant user attention due to its lightweight design, precise steering feedback, and retro sports car character. The SC01 measures 4106 mm in length, 1830 mm in width, and 1170 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2503 mm, representing standard compact sports car proportions. Unlike performance cars on the market that also prioritize daily usability, the overall design of the SC01 leans more towards emphasizing a “playful” attribute. For example, it adopts a racing-grade tubular space frame chassis, an all-aluminum body, and a mid-rear mounted battery layout, keeping the vehicle’s curb weight controlled at 1365 kg. For extreme handling, the SC01 utilizes front and rear pushrod-type horizontal suspension systems. This design, typically found in top-tier race cars, allows for horizontal placement of the shock absorbers, effectively lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity and unsprung mass, thereby enhancing suspension response speed. The interior design also follows a minimalist style. The cabin retains only one instrument cluster and places the button/control area on the top, creating a strong cockpit-like “fighter” atmosphere. SC01 Interior The SC01 is equipped with front and rear dual motors offering a combined power output of 320 kW and a maximum torque of 560 N·m. Interestingly, the vehicle supports free switching of drive modes. The driver can switch between pure front-wheel drive, pure rear-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive modes according to driving needs. Additionally, the new car is fitted with a 60 kWh battery supplied by CALB, providing a CLTC range of 500 km. Charging from 30% to 80% takes approximately 25 to 36 minutes. Currently, the final pricing for the European market has not been announced. Industry analysts suggest that considering the costs associated with production in Italy, independent development expenses, and its limited-edition status, its European price is likely to be higher than its Chinese market price.
